The Home
We're two IU professors heading to the UK for summer research, and we'd love to share our home with the right guests while we're away. This isn't an Airbnb — we're offering this to friends, colleagues, and friends-of-friends who would genuinely love the space.
The house is a beautifully designed 4-bedroom, 3-bath contemporary home nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac just minutes from Indiana University. It blends artistic style with rustic elegance — a striking two-story great room, soaring ceilings, a sunken living area, and expansive windows that frame the surrounding ridge and mature hardwood trees.
We think it would be an ideal writing retreat, or a place to gather a small group of friends for an extended visit. The home is fully furnished, well-stocked, and genuinely comfortable for long stays.

Interior
The heart of the home is a dramatic two-story great room with soaring vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, and a wall of windows overlooking the wooded ridge. It opens seamlessly into a large dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with a marble-top island, stainless appliances, and an induction range.
The main floor also features a sunken living area with a piano, a dedicated bar, and a generous sitting room lined with bookshelves — a perfect setup for writers or anyone who wants space to both spread out and retreat.
Upstairs, the primary suite is expansive and serene, with a king bed, high ceilings, built-in study nook, and windows looking into the canopy on two sides. Three additional bedrooms, each with queen beds and wooded views, share two full bathrooms.
Outside, a private patio connects to a hot tub overlooking the trees. The neighborhood is quiet and walkable, with easy bike access to campus, parks, and nearby shops and restaurants.
What We Ask
We're not looking for a house-sitter in any demanding sense — just a few light tasks to keep things ticking along while we're in the UK. In exchange, you get a beautiful home to yourself.
We have four indoor plants that need a drink once a week. Simple and quick — instructions will be left on the counter.
Check and adjust the hot tub chemistry once or twice a week. It's pretty smart and manages chlorine levels (mostly) on its own. We'll leave everything you need and a simple cheat sheet. No prior experience required.
Take your own garbage and recycling to the curb on collection day. That's it — no extraordinary effort involved.
When
We'll be in the UK from mid-May through late June. The house is yours for all or part of that window.
Minimum stay: 2 weeks. We may be able to extend into July — ask us.
A Note on How This Works
This isn't an Airbnb. We're offering the house to one set of guests — ideally someone who wants it for the whole stretch. If multiple people are interested in different windows, that's possible too, but you'd each be responsible for flipping the house between stays (cleaning, laundry, etc.). We're not arranging that part.
We're looking for people we know, or who come recommended by someone we know. Think of it as a house-share between friends, not a commercial transaction.
Good to Know
The home is entirely non-smoking, inside and outside.
We have no blanket rule on pets. Talk to us and we'll figure it out together.
The home isn't set up for young children — open railings, hot tub, and a lot of breakable things.
The house is bikeable to campus and surrounding parks; a car helps for grocery runs.
